Transit studies, transit studies everywhere

In 2008, 30 elected officials in Missouri renewed dedication to the public transit issue. They participated in forums and committee meetings studying how to expand transit in the region. Now officials from three Missouri counties are cooperating with the Mid-America Regional Council to conduct a commuter corridor study for the region. At the same time two Kansas counties are working toward public transit improvements using bus rapid transit (BRT) technology. Full

Unlike Clay Chastain, Kansas City transit leaders can't just "choose
a world-class system" like picking daisies out of a field. My comments
in the July 20 paper entitled "The
Case for Tiger" made it quite clear that for a subject matter
that elicits so much passion, cooler heads must prevail. Full

Since that time, much has transpired and congratulations are in order to
everyone who debated, collaborated, and reached a consensus on this important
submission to benefit the region. The Kansas City Regional Transit Alliance
supports the application and while our focus is public transit, we also
support improvements to citizen mobility, livable communities, and commerce. Full

Preface to county transit authorities – a booster shot
The Kansas City Regional Transit Alliance mission is to expand, enhance,
and improve public transit. We need to start having the conversation about
transit as a whole. That means speaking about transit (take a deep breath)
in terms of expanded light rail, streetcar, bus rapid transit and improved
highways. From what I can tell, these have historically been discussed,
debated and pitted against one another at the detriment of one population
or another.
